Expansion & floor cutting

Expansion Cutting

The installation of new concrete slabs (garage, house, pathways, patios, etc.) necessitates the cutting of control joints within a few days of placement. This practice helps minimize natural cracking as the concrete expands over time. A floor saw is the preferred choice for expansion cutting.

Decorative Cutting

For those seeking a more artistic touch, decorative cutting elevates the standard approach, catering to customers who wish to showcase their concrete work in public spaces. This technique typically involves wider cuts and allows for intricate patterns at the customer’s discretion. Again, a floor saw is the top choice for decorative cutting.

Similar to expansion cutting, we prioritize the use of a floor saw whenever possible, as it reduces both cutting and marking time. However, when necessary, we will employ a chain saw trolley for shorter cuts or when access is challenging. We can achieve cut widths of 3mm, 6mm, 8mm, and 10mm using a single blade, with the option to double up on blades if required.

Loop Cutting

Clients often request wider cuts for the installation of loops for traffic lights or gates, addressing the impact of vehicle pressure in concrete areas.

Demolition Cutting

We utilize a floor saw wherever feasible for all types of concrete cutting, including floor chases, trenches, asphalt, or road sealing. This method is significantly more cost-effective and time-efficient for completing the job.

handheld cutting

Hand saw cuts can be performed on both vertical and horizontal concrete surfaces.

Do you need an opening cut for a door or window?
Do you have concrete that requires removal?
Do you need a chase cut for plumbing or electrical installations?
Do you have a small amount of expansion or decorative cutting to be done?

Our range of hydraulic cutting services is an ideal solution for indoor and emission-sensitive areas. Our hydraulic power pack, powered by petrol, can be located outside or in a well-ventilated area, with hydraulic leads running into the project area. Most of our work utilizes petrol and/or hydraulic power hand saws. Here are some other smaller tasks we specialize in:

- Garage door or window rebates
- Flashing cuts for waterproofing or roofing
- Flush cutting to square up concrete slabs, openings, or foundations that are bowed
- Cutting and grinding small arises on square edges
- Cut and crane services for lifting down panels and slabs

core drilling

Our core drilling services range from 12mm to 400mm in diameter and can be performed to any required depth.

We are capable of drilling at any angle to meet your specifications.

Our core drilling technique is often utilized to create door or window openings; we can drill a hole in each corner to prevent overcutting.

Stitch Drilling

For exceptionally thick concrete slabs or walls, stitch drilling around the perimeter may be more effective. This involves drilling a series of adjacent holes in areas where the cuts are too narrow for the required depth or when a saw cannot be employed. We offer a variety of systems designed for drilling holes to accommodate all types of needs, finishes, and situations.

CONCRETE SCANNING

With the concrete scanner, we can:

- Detect metal, wood, plastic objects, and electrical conduits at depths of up to 150 mm.
- Locate subsurface objects in structures before drilling, coring, sawing, or slitting.
- Create anchor holes or through penetrations for pipe and cable installations while minimizing the risk of striking concealed objects.
- Identify underfloor heating pipes and other pipe and cable runs.

breakout, demolition & removal

We offer a variety of breakers, from compact dyna drill models for tight spots to larger units for removing floors or walls. We can clear concrete rubble via trailer or, for efficiency, arrange a skip on-site.

We often collaborate with a reliable demolition company that provides skips and helps with cutting and demolishing large walls or concrete panels, efficiently breaking out large areas where manual removal isn't feasible.
